A virtual cemetery you can walk through

The Memorial Garden is an online graveyard you explore in first person. Rather than scrolling a list of names, you walk between the graves, stop at the one you came for, and leave a candle or a few words behind. Every headstone here belongs to someone a family chose to remember.

How the online graveyard works

Use the arrow keys or WASD to walk between plots, and press Space or Enter to visit whichever grave you are standing at. Each one opens into a full memorial page with photographs, video, a life story and a guestbook that friends and family can sign. Walking the garden is free and needs no account — you can look around for as long as you like before deciding whether to create anything of your own.

Why a digital cemetery at all

A grave asks people to travel to it. Relatives who live abroad, who are too elderly to make the journey, or who simply live at the other end of the country can end up with nowhere to go on an anniversary. A virtual cemetery is open at three in the morning, from anywhere, on a phone. It does not replace the real grave — it means the people who cannot stand at it still have somewhere to be.

It also holds more than a headstone can. There is no letter limit, no stonemason's fee for changing your mind, and no waiting for the ground to settle. You can put up a name and one photograph today, and add the stories as they come back to you.

Creating a grave in the garden

You choose the plot, the headstone design, and whether the memorial is listed for anyone to find or reachable only by a link you send. It is a single payment of £59 with no subscription and no renewal fees. Pets are welcome in the same garden as people.

Common questions

Is this a real cemetery?

No. The Memorial Garden is a digital memorial space, not a burial ground — no remains are held here and nothing replaces a real grave or headstone. Most families use it alongside a physical grave, so that relatives who cannot easily travel still have somewhere to visit.

Does it cost anything to walk through the garden?

No. Walking through the virtual cemetery, reading memorials and signing a guestbook are all free, and you do not need an account. Creating a memorial page is free too. There is a one-time fee only if you want more room on the page (£29) or a grave in the garden (£59).

Can I go straight to one particular grave?

Yes. Every memorial has its own web address you can share, bookmark or send to relatives, so they arrive at the right graveside without walking the garden to find it.

Can I create a grave for a pet?

Yes. Pets are memorialised in the same garden as people, with the same photos, stories and guestbook.
