Community Guidelines

Our commitment to maintaining a respectful, supportive space for remembrance

Eternal Memorials is a digital sanctuary where families and friends can honor loved ones in a safe, compassionate environment. These guidelines exist to protect the dignity of memorials, the privacy of the bereaved, and the integrity of our community.

By visiting or contributing to any memorial on Eternal Memorials, you agree to follow these community standards. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or legal action where appropriate.

Purpose of These Guidelines

Grief is personal, and memorials are sacred spaces. Our guidelines ensure that every memorial remains a place of comfort, respect, and healing—never a source of further pain.

  • Protect the dignity of the deceased and their families
  • Create a supportive environment for collective mourning
  • Prevent harassment, spam, and inappropriate behavior
  • Uphold the integrity of memorials as permanent tributes
  • Foster a community built on compassion and mutual respect

Respectful Behavior

Expected Conduct

When visiting memorials, treat them as you would a physical gravesite or place of worship.

Do

  • Leave compassionate, heartfelt messages
  • Share respectful memories and stories
  • Light virtual candles or lay flowers as tributes
  • Respect cultural and religious differences

Do Not

  • Post hateful, threatening, or harassing content
  • Mock the deceased or their family
  • Use memorials for political or commercial purposes
  • Engage in arguments or disrespectful debates

Appropriate Content

What Can Be Posted

  • Photos and videos of the deceased (respectful, non‑graphic)
  • Audio recordings of memories, prayers, or music
  • Written tributes, poems, or letters
  • Virtual candles, flowers, or other symbolic offerings
  • Historical information (birth/death dates, accomplishments)

Prohibited Content

  • Graphic images of injury, death, or violence
  • Sexually explicit material
  • Hate speech, discrimination, or harassment
  • Spam, advertisements, or commercial promotions
  • False information intended to mislead or harm
  • Content that infringes on others' intellectual property

Note: Families maintain editorial control over their own memorials. They may remove any content they deem inappropriate, regardless of these general guidelines.

Privacy Considerations

Memorials often contain sensitive personal information. We ask all visitors to respect the privacy of the deceased and their families.

Respect Living Family Members

Do not share contact information, addresses, or other private details about living persons without their explicit consent.

Memorial Privacy Settings

Families can choose public, private, or unlisted memorials. Respect their choice— do not share private memorial links outside the intended circle.

Children's Privacy

Memorials for minors are especially sensitive. Content must be appropriate and respectful, and must not exploit the child's image or story.

Memorial Integrity

Each memorial is a permanent tribute. Vandalism, spamming, or inappropriate alterations violate the trust of families and our entire community.

Protecting Memorials

  • Do not attempt to modify or delete content created by others
  • Do not create fake memorials for living persons
  • Do not use memorials to spread misinformation
  • Do not flood memorials with repetitive messages (spam)
  • Do not impersonate family members or the deceased

Positive Contribution: Instead of focusing on restrictions, we encourage you to contribute meaningful stories, photos, or tributes that honor the life being remembered.
